Managing Partner born in Columbus, MS. Martin Ellis attended the University of the South, Sewanee, TN (B.S. 1973) where he was elected as President of the Order of Gownsmen, the University's highest elected student position. Before attending the University of Tennessee College of Law, Martin Ellis spent ten months on Kibbutz Sdot Yam, Israel, where he taught English to recent Russian immigrants. He received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1978. He is the proud father of one son and two daughters. He is an active volunteer with such community organizations as St. Joseph Catholic Church, Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Knoxville Area REscue Ministries and Big Brothers Big Sisters where he is currently serving on the Board of Directors ( see recent news ).

Martin Ellis was admitted to the courts of the State of Tennessee and United States District Court, Eastern District in 1978. He was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 2003. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 listed mediator both in the state and federal courts. He has spoken on numerous occasions, both in the classroom setting and in seminars, on medical malpractice issues, product liability litigation, truck litigation, and issues relating to sexual harassment

Mr. Ellis has devoted a substantial amount of his practice to personal injury, property damage and asbestos claims. He has been admitted Pro Hac Vice in thirteen states and participated in numerous trials. Mr. Ellis was selected as a member of National Trial Team for a product manufacturer resulting in trials in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi and Wyoming.

He is a trial lawyer who has tried and been responsible for cases in approximately thirteen different states and has taken over a hundred cases to verdict. He has been active in automotive cases involving the design of various vehicles. In addition over the years, Mr. Ellis has participated as lead counsel in tractor-trailer and various product liability cases involving a wide variety of products from automobiles, gas-fired water heaters and pesticides. His practice extends to other toxic tort litigations including toxic mold claims and claims related to other types of chemical exposures.

Mr. Ellis has received an AV Rating with Martindale-Hubbell* which identifies lawyers with a very high to pre-eminent legal ability, indicating they demonstrate the highest professional and ethical standards.

His experience abilities as a trial lawyer were recognized by his election to the International Society of Barristers (Fellow).  The International Society of Barristers is an honor society of outstanding trial lawyers chosen by their peers on the basis of excellence and integrity in advocacy.  Created in 1965, the Society arose out of a desire to bring together the best of the trial bar in a setting devoid of partisan interests.  With limited membership, the Society has Fellows from every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Australia, Canada, England, Scotland and Mexico.
