As a small law firm back in 1973, we made our mark in the Tennessee legal community and among our clients as lawyers who never forget the clients they are representing. Our law firm has grown, but our personal attention and commitment to each client has not changed.
When you need an attorney immediately, we can help.
We have an airplane that allows us to be where you need us within hours of your call. At client request, our attorneys have arrived at accident scenes in other states before the vehicles were moved. That responsiveness is available throughout our law firm, because we are well aware that rapid response can build a stronger case for the client.
When you want personal attention given to your case, we can help.
Our law firm is bigger than it was 40 years ago, but we have always maintained a close relationship with our clients. You deserve to have a lawyer who keeps you informed about your case and who is available to answer your questions. When a legal matter is important to you or to your business, it is important to us.
When you need a lawyer with trial experience, we can help.
Litigation is complex and demanding. It requires thorough preparation and the ability to think and act quickly. At Butler, Vines & Babb, we work for early settlement of cases, but when is in your best interests, we will fight for you in negotiations and in court. Two of our lawyers are certified civil trial lawyers in Tennessee. Additionally, our firm is AV* rated. Because of our experience and capabilities as trial lawyers, lawyers from the other side often prefer to negotiate and settle rather than take their chances against us in the courtroom.
Three of our attorneys have been admitted to practice before the highest court in the land: the Supreme Court of the United States of America, while the experience and skill of two of our trial lawyers was recognized by their election to The International Society of Barristers (Fellow). The International Society of Barristers is an honor society of outstanding trial lawyers chosen by their peers on the basis of excellence and integrity in advocacy. Created in 1965, the society arose out of a desire to bring together the best of trial bar in a setting devoid of partisan interests. With limited membership, the society has Fellows from every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, Australia, Canada, England, Scotland and Mexico.
A number of attorneys at Butler, Vines and Babb have also been selected by their peers as Mid-South Super Lawyers. Being named as Super Lawyer is a great honor as only 5% of attorney in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee are chosen. The selection process, which is merit based, involves peer nominations with ballots mailed to 23,000 Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee lawyers, a blue-ribbon panel review and independent research on candidates.
Other attorneys at Butler, Vines and Babb are members of the Litigation Counsel of America, which is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation.
Several of our attorneys have also been selected in the annual Cityview Magazine poll of Top Lawyers in Knoxville, with five of them selected in July 2012. This poll allows other lawyers in the local Bar Association to choose which lawyer they would likely seek or refer clients to if in need of legal services. The top ten in each category are listed in a special publication of CityView Magazine each July.
Additionally, two of our attorneys have undertaken the necessary training to be recognized as Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Mediators.
At our law firm, we work hard on every case. In fact, we see every case as a big case. Our diversity of experience (we represent individuals as well as corporations) means we understand both sides of a case well — and we fight hard for every client who has retained our services. Contact us to discuss your case with a responsive, experienced attorney.
